24-Hour Playwriting Competition 2009 @ Marina Barrage

Award-winner meets award-winner (to-be). The Marina Barrage hosts this year’s 12th annual 24-Hour Playwriting Competition. Get all your creative juices flowing as you nestle in the amazing architecture and technology that is the Marina Barrage for 24 hours. You may just be surprised what can happen when you open your creative flood-gates.

TheatreWorks Writers’ Lab is the longest running playwriting programme. Since its inception in 1990, the Writers’ Lab has nurtured many of Singapore’s playwrights. The Writers’ Lab aims to provide a hotbed for new Singapore plays and cultivate both emerging and established writers. Following a huge success last year, the Writers’ Lab collaborates with South East Community Development Council / South East District Arts Festival 2009 for the second time and with PUB this time round as venue sponsor.

Date/Time: 18 to 19 July 2009 (Saturday – Sunday), 4pm to 4pm

Venue: Marina Barrage, 260 Marina Way Singapore 018976

Join us at the Marina Barrage, which creates Singapore’s first reservoir in the city, alleviates floods, and offers a lifestyle attraction for all to enjoy.

Competition Categories:
Youth Category (15-18 years old)
Open Category (19 years and above)

Registration Fee: Youth – $25 / Open – $35

Registration Deadline: 3 July 2009

Prizes for each category:
1st Prize – S$700
2nd Prize – S$500
3rd Prize – S$300
Merit – S$100

Registration is now open! Hurry, as the number of places in the competition is limited to 80.
